How’s your week been so far? For me, it is so good, so far!
I am quickly back with another review. This time it is the Mary Kay Extra Emollient Night Cream. I have received it in one of the Vellvette boxes and have thought of using it soon…but guess ‘soon’ did not make an appearance soon enough. Oh and by the way, did I tell you guys that I have not subscribed to the Vellvette box ever since they have hiked the price. I was a bit disappointed with their decision since the last lot of products they were sending were just about okay and not great enough to shell out INR 499 per month. Anyways, now if I order again, I would sign up for the 3-month package. In that way, I guess I will save some extra in the long run.
- Helps maintain the natural moisture of the skin and replenishes hydration in very dry areas
- Excellent for dry patches, especially on hands, elbows and feet
- Suitable for all skin types
- Clinically tested for skin irritancy and allergy
- Non-comedogenic (will not clog pores)
Anyways, coming to the review, it comes in a regular tube packaging. It is a pearly pink colour plastic tube with a black cap. The tube has a small opening and that ensures that there will be no wastage of product.
Though it is mentioned on the tube that it is a cream, it comes in a gel-like consistency and is extremely concentrated. The texture is really thick and when applied on the skin, it may initially make your skin look very oily, but gradually you will see your skin soaking up the product and leaves you with smooth and nourished skin. Since the texture is so thick, it is not really easy to blend the product into the skin and takes some more time than usual for even application.
The company claims that it is clinically tested for any kind of allergy or skin irritancy. I got to agree with this point as I have not experienced any kind of irritation after using this cream/gel. It does feel heavier post application, but no sort of irritation whatsoever.
It is a lucent red coloured cream or gel, whatever you like to call it. It is particularly formulated for extremely dry skin, so oily-skinned beauties, you got to stay miles away from this cream unless you want oil oozing out from every pore on your face. So, the claim that it is suitable for all skin types falls flat. I mention again, it is only meant for very dry skin.
Doesn’t the above swatch makes it look like strawberry jam? Or may be it is my imagination running wild. What I liked about this cream/gel is that it’s extremely moisturizing. I am not too sure if I could use this on my face since the first time I applied, it made my face look like a greasy pan. But yes, it works great for my dry elbows. I am using it for a week now on my dark and rough elbows and yes, the skin around there feels a lot better and moisturized now.
I would not want to say I recommend or I highly recommend this product since it is a sample and skincare products are better judged with full-sized packs and not samples. But yes, it is definitely worth a try if you have extremely dry skin that flakes off from time to time. And yes, another time when this product would come handy is during the winters.
Have you guys used the Mary Kay Extra Emollient Night Cream yet? Which is your favourite night cream?
